StarBucks Safety/Team Incentive Award
Incentive – “Incitement; encouragement; motive; spur;
stimulus,” (Webster).
Triton has a substantial incentive program that rewards initiative, team
achievements, and exemplary safety performance. Working safely is a
condition of employment at Triton, therefore, we do not honor employees
for working to expectation and simply not incurring injuries. Our
incentive program awards StarBucks monthly for Positive Safety/Team
Initiatives and ProGoals. Triton rewards “Achievement through Teamwork”.
ProGoals are proactive safety measures performed
daily
on Triton Diving Services, LLC jobs. They include Daily Safety meetings, Job
Safety Analysis’s (JSA’s), Near Miss Reports, Safety Observations (Team
STOP cards) and Positive Safety Initiatives (PSI’s). These are entered
from every job into databases and tracked against man-hours. As safety
is a line management responsibility, supervising employees earn
StarBucks for promoting safety on their jobs through quality and
quantity of ProGoals performed under their encouragement. Individual
crewmembers earn StarBucks through their participation in Triton’s
Behavioral Based Safety Management program (Team STOP), the Mentoring
Program and Positive Safety/Team Initiatives.
Positive Safety/Team Initiatives are actions taken by individuals or job
teams that are outside the ordinary. They include anything that make us
safer, better, or more efficient. Any employee, whether field or office,
may submit a PSI. Individuals may nominate themselves or another
employee. Examples include: critical injury intervention; critical
unsafe act intervention; critical hazard abatement; improved process or
procedure; outstanding team STOP; outstanding mentor performance;
innovative technical solution; extra-company training initiative; safety
or cost saving suggestion for improvement; etc. This is “Achievement
through Teamwork” in action.
Awards are granted monthly, recipients, merit, and award value
determined by the Safety Committee. Winners may “bank” their awards and
choose to cash in later for larger amounts. At least one 4 or 5-Star
award ($120 - $200+) award each for supervisors and divers/tenders is
given and an “Employee of the Month is chosen”. Many other STAR awards
are granted to all ranks in ranges from $15 (1-Star) to $60 (3-Star)
each month. All the Employee of the Month Tritoneers are honored at the
annual Presidents Award Banquet, where an “Employee of the Year” is
presented his/her award. |
